To start out, I put a California sunset in the background because Sawdust stresses that these are local artists all from Laguna Beach, so I wanted to set this scene in the poster. Second, for the center graphic I chose a sculpture of a dancer because both sculpture and dance are a form of art. The shape of the dancer is abstract because after looking at the pictures of artwork from the previous years, most of the art done looked more abstract. I filled the center graphic with a picture of a lush green forest with a waterfall running through it. I chose this picture because it gives a mystical mood and imagery for the setting of the actual setting, which is described at the bottom of the poster as a half acre canyon with eucalyptus trees and tranquil waterfalls. I made the sawdust moto as "art in it's own right" because they said those words in their design instructions to me and I thought it was catchy. I put this catchy phrase in the center of the poster in hopes to catch readers and entourage them to read further.

Menu – Tastys

The Hollywood Sandwich Shoppe menu was a fun and enlightening project. I decided to make a three panel layout for the spread due to the fact that there were so many menu items. The amount of menu items made it very difficult to organize the menu in a neat and uncluttered way. On the front page of the menu I put the restaurants logo and the address and phone number. Also, I added a star with a picture of Audrey Hepburn in it because she is one of the popular celebrities listed in the menu. On the inside, I put the menu items into three sections: sandwiches, salads, and deserts. Each section was designed with a special heading to show separation between the menu items. Also, I included three pictures of food from the menu, one for each section. I placed the pictures below each heading to attract the readers to the section. Further at the end of the menu I created an area for the special feature. Lastly, I created a general theme for each page, which includes a blue bar on the left hand side of each page.
